Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House, one of the most visited Australian art performing center in Sydney. Sydney Opera House is the brainchild of Danish architect Jorn Utzon. A design competition was held in 13 September 1995 to determine the best design for the building and 233 architects took part in the competition from 32 countries.

After analyzing all the entries New South Wales Government selected Danish architect Utzon’s design for the art complex. John Utzon won £5,000 for the prize and in 1957 he visited Sidney to help inspect the project. The owner of the art complex, New South Wales Government started the constructions of the art complex in 1957 and completed in 1973. Sidney Opera House hosts 1800 performances each year, which makes it the liveliest performing-arts center in the world. It is one of the famous tourist attractions in Australia, which attracts 7 million people each year. In 2007 UNESCO declared Utzon’s masterpiece as a world heritage site.
